Ask my kids what they want for dinner, every time they will say “BURGERS” I don’t know when this started but it is what it is. After grilling burgers per their request more times than I can count I think I have perfected them. And it’s super simple.
For this we need: ground beef, garlic, an egg, plain breadcrumbs and your bus and toppings. Tonight we had cheddar cheese, rom tomatoes, bacon, romaine lettuce, and jalapenos.
First heat your grill up to high. I’m using my favorite Primo Charcoal XL grill. Add ground beef, the egg, minced garlic, breadcrumbs and salt and pepper in a bowl. With a fork combine. I like to use a fork to keep it airy so the patties don’t become dense hockey pucks.
Once your grill is hot toss those patties on. Close the lid and let them cook for about 4 minutes. They’re read to flip when you see bubbles of liquid (fat) on top. It will be smoky because of the fat dripping, don’t worry they’re not burning.
See that beautiful char, that’s flavor!! Let them cook for about 2 more minutes then add your cheese. You can see I used cheddar for mine and my older daughters, pepper jack for my husband and my little one likes it with NO cheese. I also like to butter my buns and toast them on the grill. If you want to do that toss them on when you add the cheese but keep an eye of them. Once the cheese is melted take them off the grill and build your burger!

Charcoal Grilled Burgers
1lb ground beef
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 c bread crumbs
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
Burger buns & toppings
Preheat grill to high.
Combine ground beef, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt & pepper in bowl with a fork. Form your burger patties.
Head out to your grill. Put patties on the grill and cook for about 4 minutes. Once you see liquid bubbles on top (that’s fat) they’re ready to flip.
Flip patties and grill for another 2 minutes. Add cheese and buttered burger buns if you’d like. Cook for about another 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Top burgers with your desired toppings and enjoy!
