I have been a long time fan of biscuits & gravy. So creamy, so decadent, so delicious. It took me a while to perfect this recipe at home. After a lot of trial the most simple recipe ended up being the most delicious.
I top my homemade biscuits (link here) with this gravy. A match made in heaven.
All you’ll need is breakfast sausage, flour, pepper and MILK. Forgot the milk in the picture!!
Get your breakfast sausage into a pan and cook until browned.
Do not drain.
Add the flour. I start out with 1/3 cup, sometimes I need a little more.
You want the meat to look dry. Cook for a few seconds after all coated.
All the milk and pepper.
Stiring frequently. Cook until thick.
Serve over biscuits.
Add some fresh jalepenos for an extra fresh kick!
Sausage Gravy
Ingredients
1 pound Breakfast Sausage, Hot Or Mild
1/3 cup All-purpose Flour
3 cups Milk
2 teaspoons Black Pepper, More To Taste
Directions
Brown the sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Sprinkle the flour and stir so that the sausage looks too. Stir it around and cook it for a few seconds, then pour in the milk & pepper, stirring frequently.
Cook the gravy, stirring frequently, until it thickens. Takes about 5-7 minutes. If it gets too thick too soon, just splash in 1/2 cup of milk or more if needed. Taste and adjust seasonings.
Spoon sausage gravy over warm biscuits and enjoy immediately!
